Pop Hangs are music industry networking events held around LA every month or so. They’re focused primarily on pop music, but all genres are welcome.
While they started as small, intimate gatherings, they’ve grown into full-fledged events with sometimes close to 100 people.
At Pop Hangs, you’ll meet:
- songwriters,
- producers,
- artists,
- sync agents,
- artist managers,
- and more.
These events aim to connect musicians with each other and build a vibrant music community in Los Angeles.
Event Info
Pop Hangs are invite-only. Send a direct message on Instagram to the event organizers with a link to your music. The event is free.

They’ll send you back info about the event, like the address and what to expect.
The event is split into roughly two parts.
- Networking: The first part of the event is dedicated to networking. Show up and start talking to other creatives! Everyone is here to network, so make the most of it.
- Music Sharing: A handful of artists are pre-selected to share their music with the crowd. Everyone takes a seat and gets quiet. You can share a snippet of a song you’re working on, something that’s brand new, or something you’re proud of. Shout out your social media profiles and tell people how to connect with you!
You can chat with the songwriters and performers who share their songs and try to work together! Or you can make new friends by jumping into conversations around the event.
I can’t say enough good things about Pop Hangs. The talent level here is exceptional; everyone wants to make friends and connect. There’s no ego; everyone is there to build and support the LA music community.
The last time I was there, I met someone looking for a summer music internship, an A&R who worked at a major record label, and a singer who moonlighted as a wedding band guitarist.
Interview with Noreen Prunier (Founder of Pop Hangs)
LAM: What is Pop Hangs? How did it start?
Noreen: “Pop Hangs is a monthly networking event for musicians. I started it a few years ago when I lived in Nashville with the intention of creating a space where songwriters, music producers, and artists could share their music with one another. The goal was to help creatives find new collaborators and feel supported on their journey.
Our long term vision for Pop Hangs is to further support artists outside of these events. We want to help artists release their music, find creative and professional partners, and connect them with managers, publishers, and record labels.”
LAM: What advice do you have for artists and songwriters in LA?
Noreen: “Be open to meeting new people and trying out new genres or styles. Bring your authentic self when you’re reaching out for a collaboration. And be intentional with your time and the ideas you’re bringing to the world.
Show up on to cowrites on time! Don’t cancel last minute!
I also tell artists to connect with each other on a deeper level outside of music. Music is great. But the people are really what make this an inspiring career path.”
LAM: What advice would you give to your younger self?
Noreen: “Relationships are the single most important thing in the music business. Cherish them and take care of them. Be generous with your time. You never know how someone will play a part in your life along the way.”
LAM: What other LA musician events do you recommend?
Noreen: “I think Writer’s Block at Hotel Cafe is great.”
